The Epic V5 is now available in two lightweight composite layups, the Ultra and Performance layup.

Excellent stability allows beginners to jump on and paddle with confidence and give more experienced paddlers a short, stable surfski to use in big or rough conditions. Sleek lines and Epic’s comfortable surfski cockpit make the V5 perfect to learn downwind paddling and great for playing in the surf zone. 

The V5 composite, with its lighter weight, is even easier to carry to and from the water and unload from your roof rack.

The V5 comes standard with under hull rudder, adjustable foot brace (including pedals that automatically adjust line length), rear storage compartment, bow and stern handles, center carry handles, water bottle holder and Epic’s patented bailer. An optional stern kick up rudder can be added to the Rotomolded version with no modifications needed to allow the V5 to be paddled in shallow or rocky areas.

With a hull design featuring specs of 18’ x 21.25”, the V8 is unique in its class. Fast, yet extremely stable, this is a surfski that most kayakers should be able to hop right onto and paddle off. The deck features all the surfski simplicity of the V10 and V12, the main components being a fully adjustable footbrace and rear deck bungees. 

The V8 also incorporates some new features that add to its user friendly appeal: molded in bow & stern carry handles, and a water bottle holder in the cockpit. The Epic bailer, breather tube and Epic surfski rudder configurations are standard.

Surfskis are no longer unstable racing craft capable of being paddled only by professional athletes. Most levels of paddler can get onto a V8 DOUBLE and paddle proficiently from the first day.

​Newbies will appreciate the way they can jump on and go without spending their first sessions bracing or capsizing. The V8 Double gives intermediate paddlers the confidence to venture out into more adventurous conditions - Surf’s up! The legend continues with the Gen 3 Epic V10! 

Our customers asked for a ski optimized for downwind surf conditions – and we’ve delivered! Greg Barton has melded the features from our highly acclaimed 2017 edition V12 with the new V10. This is a nimble surfing boat for advanced paddlers, that doesn’t require elite level stability skills.

The original Epic V10 introduced many user-friendly advances that are now common on top surfskis. The single footwell and adjustable foot brace with self-adjusting pedals – all V10 innovations! The original V10 greatly expanded the surfski market with a blend of speed, handling and stability.

The Gen 3 V10 has increased rocker and modified seat placement. The length is reduced to 20’6” or 6.25m. Greg’s analysis showed this length, combined with the new rocker profile, gives a noticeable improvement in maneuverability while maintaining good hull speed. Stability is similar to the Gen 2 V10 which feels rock solid for advanced paddlers in a variety of conditions.

The ergonomic cockpit facilitates easy remounting, and the adjustable Epic bailer keeps your ride dry. The new V10 seat is barely wider than the V12 seat – still narrow enough to feel secure for average to smaller paddlers, with a few added mm to accommodate those squeezed in the V12 or V14. The under-knee hump is reduced for improved leg drive.

Experienced paddlers will find the 2018 V10 to be the perfect all-around boat for a variety of conditions. But don’t take our word for it - test drive the new V10 at an Epic dealer near you!

The all-new third generation V12 is designed to be the ultimate downwind machine for advanced to elite level paddlers. The updated design has more rocker, a more responsive rudder position, and incorporates the very popular V11 cockpit all with more stability than the V14. The slightly shorter length in the Gen 3 V12 allows the ski to turn on a dime and not miss a beat. 

After testing several prototypes in locations around the world, we feel this is the best surfski for elite, open-water paddling, especially in big downwinds. The ski is designed to surf runs for longer and pop up quicker at the bottom of a run- ensuring more momentum. The V12 is faster than the V10 on flat water and is a good choice for those looking to move up. Highly skilled elite level paddlers with perfect stability skills will find the V14 slightly faster on flat water. But as soon as the wind and waves pick up the new V12 will be their weapon of choice.

At 19’ x 19”, the V9 was designed by Epic’s founder and chief designer, Greg Barton, to fill a sweet spot between the V8 Pro and V10 Sport. Like the Gen 3 V10, the V9 has been optimized for downwind surfing, with increased rocker, and stability. Flatwater speed is a step up from the V8 Pro due to the slightly narrower beam. This is the boat many paddlers have been waiting their whole lives for – the one that launches you onto the swells, glides efficiently across the water, and keeps you in the “zone”.

The comfort of Epic surfskis is legendary. We believe that better comfort leads to greater performance. If you’re not comfortable in the boat, nothing else matters! The seat ergonomics of the V9 are superb, incorporating the shape of the Gen 3 V10 seat, with a lower “hump” under the knees for improved leg power. Perfect leash for races, for a quick-release at the end of the race. Coil leash attaches just below the knee.

The Deluxe Leg Leash is equipped with a quick-release carabiner. This is a valuable feature for paddlers, as you typically do not want to be attached to your boat in larger shore break conditions.

We recommend that you always use a leash! In strong winds, our lightweight boats can blow away from you faster than you can swim. Practice your remounts while wearing your leash(es) so there are no surprises when you are forced to remount.

Please note: these leashes are designed for use in races for the quick release carabiner and are not guaranteed to stay connected under extreme tension, or in extreme conditions. 

The new Epic Boat Sock will help protect your boat while in storage or on the road - it is a great addition to your Epic products. There are several sizes available, and they are fitted to your ski.

Note that the fit is not as tight in the back part of the boat, as there is some space in the sock to account for the shape of the skis as well as to accept any length rudder. V7 fits into the V8 cover with a bit of extra material left unused.

Warning: The boat sock is breathable and therefore is not waterproof or completely dustproof. The sock does not provide protection from hard impacts or from dropping your boat.

Epic Kayaks Non Slip Foot Pad for your footplate. This is an essential addition to your surf ski that helps with your leg drive, ensuring that your feet don't slip on the footplate. 

The Epic Kayaks boat stands are the perfect way to store your ski! They also make a convenient support while you are washing your kayak and are easily transported to use before a race or a paddle while setting up your boat. They are made from lightweight aluminum and the durable fabric sling conforms perfectly to the shape of your boat. They fold flat for transporting or storage when not in use. 

Always try to support the weight of your kayak equally (do not place stands at the very ends of the boat). On shorter and wider boats, it may be necessary to move the stands a bit further towards the bow/stern than the skinnier boats. This is acceptable.

Paddling in big water?

The Epic Surf Rudder has a much bigger blade surface and deeper purchase and offers superb traction and control in big wind and waves.

Please note there are variants of the rudder that you order. Our skis have different rudder lengths per ski so to avoid receiving the incorrect rudder for your ski, please check that you have selected the correct option.
